white club space mission- flight into fiction_________________________2008 der mond in litauen
für immer bleibt der weltraum ein rätsel. allein die vorstellung, wie weit er reicht, wo er enden könnte, lässt uns an den rand unserer vorstellungskraft geraten. für faumfahrtorganisationen und forscher interessant als unerklärtes, wissenschaftliches gebiet kann das all auch für künstlerinnen und künstler zum ort werden, der durch seine unbestimmtheit raum für hypothesen und spekulationen birgt, vielleicht auch zu fiktiv-wissenschaftlichen überlegungen anregt.
ein von white club zusammengestelltes team nutzte im sommer gemeinsam mit jungen künstlern aus klaipéda (gruppe "MECUSA") die k ünstlerkolonie nida in litauen, um vor ort projekte unter dem titel "space mission - flucht in die fiktion" zu entwickeln.
ansatz für die künstlerInnen boten einerseits der erwerb eines grundstückes auf dem mond und andererseits die option, ein terrain auf der litauischen halbinsel neringa für projektzwecke zu nutzen. die ortschaft nida fungierte dabei als produktionsort und treffpunkt. die mit wanderdünen übersäte umgebung lässt assoziationen zur mondlandschaft zu und verstärkt die idee, vor ort das weltall zum inhalt des projektes werden zu lassen.
die ergebnisse der 15-köpfigen crew werden im whiteclub space#3 präsentiert und im magazin vorgestellt.

remains a riddle forevermore. imagining how big it is, where it might end
quickly brings us to the limits of our imagination. as space is an interesting
place for space travel programmes and scientists as an unexplored field of
study, it can be interesting for the artist as a place which, because of its
vagueness, offers potential for speculations and hypotheses, and which may
even stimulate partly fictitious, partly scientific considerations.
white club has put together a team, which was collaborating with young artists
from klaipéda (group "MECUSA"). this new team will use the
artists' colony in nida to develop projects under the heading "Space
mission - flight into fiction".
different things served as a point of departure for the artists, on the one
hand the purchase of land on the moon, and on the other hand the possibility
to use a terrain on the lithuanian peninsula neringa for creating an art project.
the town of nida served both as a meeting place and a place for developing
the projects. the landscape there, which is full of wandering dunes, allows
associations with the surface of the moon and therefore reinforces the idea
to make outer space the subject of the project.
the results of the work of this crew (15 members) are presented at whiteclub
space#3 and introduced in your magazine.
