eine in der fachwelt anerkannte beschreibung von museumsfunktionen liefert das International council of museums (ICOM):
"ein museum ist eine gemeinnützige, ständige, der öffentlichkeit zugängliche einrichtung im dienste der gesellschaft und ihrer entwicklung, die zu studien-, bildungs- und unterhaltungszwecken materielle zeugnisse von menschen und ihrer umwelt beschafft, bewahrt, erforscht, bekannt macht und ausstellt."

nachdem der white club im vergangenen jahr sich dazu entschlossen hat, ein mondgrundstück zu erwerben, ist nun der bau eines fiktiven museums für junge kunst in planung. hierzu wurden künstlerInnen, vereine, initiativen, universitäten, architektenbüros, etc. im rahmen einer öffentlichen ausschreibung eingeladen, beiträge und vorschläge einzureichen, die im white club space#3 gesamtheitlich präsentiert werden. skizzen, grundrisse, texte, fotomontagen, modelle und 3d-animationen etc. ergeben ein konvolut, welches sich mit inhaltlichen wie formalen problemen und fragen rund um das thema museum auseinandersetzt.

last year, white club bought some land on the moon, and now we are planning to build a fictitious museum for young art. for this purpose, artists, associations, initiatives, universities, architecture offices, etc. were invited, via a public competition, to send in their contributions and suggestions, which are presented together at white club space#3. drafts, floor plans, texts, photo montages, models and stereoscopic animations etc. all produce a mixed lot revolving around the problems and questions related to the topic of ‚museum', both as regards form and content.

als auszustellende kunstwerke für den begehbaren mondkrater empfiehlt andreas hauch "massige teile".
this mobile top-shelf art museum is swivelling, enabling it to react to different weights and weight distributions. andreas hauch suggests exhibiting “massive pieces" in this walk-in moon crater.

das konzept eines museums auf dem mond als dokumentationszentrum für die unechtheit der mondlandung hinterfragt ironisch den authentizitätsanspruch der medien und führt den wahrheitsbegriff ad absurdum. gefälschtes bildmaterial, seriöse zeugenaussagen und wissenschaftliche gegenbeweise sollen hier gesammelt, archiviert und ausgestellt werden. ein kleiner schritt für einen menschen, aber ein großer schritt für die filmgeschichte!
the concept of a documentation centre on the moon about the fake moon landing ironically questions the media’s claim to authenticity and pushes the concept of truth to the point of absurdity. faked image material, ‘reliable’ witness accounts and scientific counterevidence is to be collected, archived and exhibited in this museum. asmall step for a man, but a giant leap for film history!

der architektonische entwurf orientiert sich im geometrischen sinn am griechischen philosophen platon und sieht als bauplatz des ikosaeders einen kugelkalotten-förmigen krater vor, in dem sich der mathematisch völlig regelmäßige körper genau einpasst und durch sein sphärisches Erscheinungsbild einen bezug zwischen innen und außen schafft. the greek philosopher plato was the inspiration for the geometrical design of this architectural concept. the idea is to build the icosahedron in a crater shaped like a universal ball joint, in which it would fit in perfectly, thus creating a relation between inside and outside through its spherical appearance.

als kulturelle ergänzung wird ein mondtheater skizziert, welches von anfang an ein selbst geschriebenes stück aufzuweisen hat. gezeichnete puppen stehen im mittelpunkt der inszenierung, in der es um krieg, kannibalismus, voodoo und seltsame schnurrbärte geht.
this is a draft of a moon theatre, intended as a cultural supplement. from the beginning, this theatre has its own play. painted puppets are at the centre of the production, which is about war, cannibalism, voodoo and strange moustaches.

das architektonische design des museums ist inspiriert durch die form einer hurricane-wolke. nachdem das klima auf der erde zunehmend aus dem gleichgewicht gerät, wird die raumforschung für die menschheit bald eine frage des überlebens sein. deshalb ist der bau eines virtuellen museums auf dem mond ohne jegliche atmosphäre ein mahnmal für die wachsende bedeutung aktueller „atmosphärischer“ angelegenheiten.
das design der “station ist teilweise inspiriert duch ein grafisches farbsystem von johannes itten aus dem jahre 1920. es ist ein mobiler und wandlungsfähiger rückzugsbereich für künstlerInnen und kuratorInnen im residency-programm des kunstmuseums am mond. the station (residency for artists and curators):
the art museum’s architectural design is inspired by the shape of a hurricane cloud. as earth’s climate grows more and more out of balance, space exploration will soon become a question of survival for the human race. therefore building a virtual museum on an atmosphere-less moon is a reminder of the growing importance of current ”atmospheric”concerns.
the station’s architectural design is partly inspired by a johannes itten color repartition graph from 1920. it is a mobile and versatile retreat for the artists and curators in residency program of the moon’s art museum.

mittels hochleistungsfernrohr kann der betrachter vom mond aus auf ein speziell für diesen zweck auf der erde erbautes museum blicken, durch dessen glaskuppel die kunstwerke sichtbar sind – allerdings nur bei klaren wetterverhältnissen!
by means of a high-performance telescope, the visitor on the moon can look into a museum built for this purpose on the earth. the works of art can be seen through a glass dome, but only during favourable weather conditions.

in form eines skulpturenparks soll das areal um das mondmuseum mit sogenannten "mondkälbern“ bestückt werden. die figuren der künstlerin, die durch ihre „missgebildete“ erscheinung auffallen, werden zusätzlich durch den titel „mondkälber“ (= begriff aus dem 16. Jh. für deformationen bei tieren) mystifiziert und bekommen eine narrative komponente.
this concept plans to set up a sculpture park filled with "mooncalves" around the museum. the sculptures are deliberately "malformed" to catch the eye. in addition, the title "mooncalves" (term from the 16th century for deformations of animals) lends them an aura of myth and a narrative component.

dieser architekturentwurf sieht eine blasenförmige konstruktion vor, welche die geringe schwerkraft am mond ausnutzt. nahezu frei schwebend bewegt sich der besucher durch sphärische r äume, um holografisch projizierte kunstwerke zu erleben.
this architecture project proposes a bubble-shaped construction, which takes advantage of the low gravitation on the moon. visitors can float through spherical rooms, enjoying holographically projected works of art.

das museum am mond ist ein reines raum-museum, d.h. es existieren keinerlei wände; die kunstwerke erhalten einen jeweils zeitgemäßen raumanzug und werden freischwebend und variabel per seil verankert. the museum on the moon is purely an outer space museum, i.e. there are no walls. the works of art do all get their own modern space-suit, in which they float freely, held in place by ropes.

die arbeiten nehmen bezug auf arnold schönbergs „pierrot lunaire“. die installation thematisiert die atmosphärische umsetzung textbezogener musik in form von bildern, ohne diese jedoch zu illustrieren.
these works refer to arnold schönberg’s “pierrot lunaire”. the installation deals with the atmospherical rendering of text-related music in the form of images, but without illustrating them.

peter haas *besucherbetreuungspulli (salzburg / installation)

im zentrum dieser einreichung steht die jeweils uniforme berufsbekleidung der besucherbetreuung in kunstmuseen. passend zum mondmuseum wird ein gängiges modell in „blassmondgrau“ vorgeschlagen. Das dazupassende Logo befindet sich noch in Arbeit.
the main idea of this concept is based on the uniform working clothes of the museum staff. A design in ‘pale moon grey’ is suggested, matching the colours of the environment. the logo to go with it has not yet been finished.

emilie pischedda, valentin souquet *diligence (nizza / installation)

das projekt diligence begründet sich in erster linie durch die schaffung einer nomadischen struktur. als ort des aufenthaltes, als labor für forschung und künstlerische produktion, und als plattform für veranstaltungsvorschläge ist dieser wandernde bus dazu gedacht, bei seinen stopps während seiner der reise (…) anknüpfungspunkte zu schaffen.
die akteure des projekts konzentrieren sich auf das "etwas-machen-mit", abgestimmt auf ihre
forschungen über die jeweiligen topographischen, sozialen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen bedingungen der örtlichkeiten, die sie passieren. geschaffen zur urbanen neugestaltung bietet diligence die möglichkeit in den kalten raum vorzudringen, um ephemere kunstaktionen zu starten. als ausdrucksform der zusammenarbeit im team entwickelt sich das utopische projekt im laufe der umsetzung und der situationen, die es erzeugt immer weiter.
the project diligence primarily constitutes itself by carrying out a nomad structure. place of residence, laboratory of research and artistic production, host structure for proposed events, this wandering bus is dedicated to travel around in order to design contextual creations at its stops (…). the protagonists of the project refer to the notion "dealing with" accordant to their research about the topographical, social, economic and cultural conditions of the places they pass through. diligence is proposing to enter frozen spaces, born for urban redevelopment by activating ephemeral art. As a form of collaborative working this utopian project develops in the course of the achievements and situations it generates.

carlos katastrofsky *dlp-projektion (wien / skizze)

das konzept verfolgt die idee eines riesigen dlp-projektors, der mit überdimensionalen prismen, linsen und spiegelfeldern operiert. die sonne wird hierbei als lichtquelle und die erde als projektionsfläche genutzt, um großformatig videokunst zu zeigen.
the idea is to build a gigantic dlp-projector, working with huge prisms, lenses and mirror constructions. the sun would serve as the light source and the earth as the projection screen, allowing to present large-sized video art.

friedrich rücker *re-revolution (salzburg / plakat)

gleich einem trojanischen pferd suggeriert dieses konzept für eine fingierte kampagne dem betrachter eine informations-trächtige außenhülle. speziell entwickelt werden corporate design, identity und communication. dem publikum wird eine imagination eines mondmuseums suggeriert, die sich aber bei genauerer überlegung als rein fiktive projektionsfläche entpuppt.
like a trojan horse, this concept for a fictitious publicity campaign claims to give a lot of information about a museum that really exists, while actually it is nothing more than an empty shell. ‘corporate design’, ‘identity’ and ‘communication’ are developed for this pretended museum. an idea about the moon museum is suggested to the public, which at a closer look turns out to be a mere projection surface.
